Australian boxer Shannon O’Connell has been criticized for a classless act immediately following her defeat by bitter rival Ebanie Bridges in Sunday’s blockbuster world title fight.

Bridges held a clinic against O’Connell to retain her IBF world bantamweight title and dethrone the ‘queen of Australian boxing’ O’Connell with a stunning performance that saw her win by ruthless TKO in Leeds.

After the loss to Bridges, O’Connell was seen giving the middle finger to someone outside the ring – who has now been revealed to be Australian boxer Skye Nicolson.

Nicolson, a Commonwealth Games gold medalist, was at ringside during the fight so she could support her friend Bridges – and O’Connell didn’t take kindly to it.

After the fight, Nicolson gave a media interview and revealed that O’Connell had also directed an X-rated commentary at her.

“I feel like Shannon just takes things very personally,” she told IFL TV. “I was cheering for my girlfriend who supports my boxing career, I support her and her boxing career.

“I applauded my friend when they announced the decision, and as she (O’Connell) stands in the center of the ring, she flipped the bird and said, ‘F**k you, s**t! ”

Bridges took to social media after the fight to comment on O’Connell’s behavior.

“And she says I have no morals,” Bridges wrote on Instagram — referring to O’Connell’s criticism of her habit of wearing lingerie during her pre-fight weigh-ins.

“Sorry, who’s the bad role model?” Bridges said in another post with a photo of O’Connell making the middle finger gesture.

“I can’t believe Shannon put her finger up to @skyebnic’s center ring and said, ‘F***k you s***’. Shame’ Bridges wrote in a third post.

The battle of words between the champion and O’Connell began months before the fight with O’Connell branding her rival a “skanky stripper.”

The 39-year-old also tried to intimidate Bridges when they met face-to-face in Leeds last Thursday, telling her: ‘You’re f**ked, b***h’ – only to have her opponent smile her face.

O’Connell also insulted Bridges for her weight before the fight, describing her as a “fat son of a bitch” before stepping on the scale.

Bridges told Daily Mail Australia that she doesn’t know where all the hate is coming from – and that she didn’t even know O’Connell before signing up to fight her.

“She just hates me, and we’ve never met,” Bridges said.

‘She keeps saying things about me, calling me a slutty stripper – apparently I’m ‘naked’ because I’m wearing lingerie.

“Everyone wears underwear. What the f***! The message I’m pushing is stop judging women. I embrace my femininity.’

Bridges is well equipped to deal with abuse from her opponents and trolls online, insisting that this comes with the territory if you’re at the top of your sport.

“No matter what — look at (Floyd) Mayweather, he’s incredible, he still has so many haters. Everyone has haters. Canelo has haters. Clarissa Shields has haters. Some people just hate,” she said.

“The real people, the people who understand boxing, who know boxing, who don’t have a personal feud… they can see the truth about me, they can see what I’ve done and what I am, and that’s it. that matters.

“I don’t care about people who hate and can’t see it. I’m not here to actually prove anyone wrong, I’m just here to try and do my best.”

The win marks the Blonde Bomber’s 10th professional fight and she’ll likely now be looking for a bantamweight unit fight.
