Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has officially revealed Shuri’s major new role in the film for the first time in a brand new character poster.

Previously, the Marvel movie’s promotional materials had kept the identity of the new Black Panther – a huge talking point following Chadwick Boseman’s death – a secret.

Now, however, after some time in theaters, the film has publicly confirmed that Letitia Wright’s Shuri is the new Black Panther. The simple yet effective poster features Wright’s Shuri in her Black Panther suit minus the mask. She stands with her arms crossed over her chest in the Wakanda Forever Pose.

Wright recently spoke about the film’s big reveal, calling it “bittersweet.”

Then Ryan [Coogler, director] gave me that call, it was hard,” Wright said. He slowly, gently explained to me his intent on how we can honor Chad in this movie and how we can honor what was created by us as a family. You have to keep inspiring people; you have to go ahead.”

Towards the end of the film, Shuri is confirmed as the new Panther, while Winston announces Duke’s M’Baku that he wants to compete for the throne of Wakanda. The movie is sure to have major ramifications for the rest of the MCU in the future, including a point about Namor and mutants in the MCU.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever now playing in cinemas worldwide. The first movie is streaming Disney+.
