‘Things change quickly, we all know it’: Christian Pulisic admits he could leave Chelsea in January after a difficult season so far in London but insists he is ‘back and focused’ after captaining the US on the World Cup

Christian Pulisic has admitted his near future could lie outside Chelsea, with the winger acknowledging that ‘anything can happen’ in a new podcast interview.

Appearing on US teammate Tim Ream’s ‘Indirect’ podcast this week, Pulisic gave some insight into his club situation after helping the Stars and Stripes reach the Round of 16 in Qatar.

While the Blues return to action against Bournemouth on December 27, the January transfer window will allow Pulisic to seek more playing time elsewhere as he pushes for a departure from the club.

Under managers Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, the American has started just three of Chelsea’s 14 league games this season and has refused to rule out an imminent transfer.

“Right now I’m all back at Chelsea and focused and my mind is on that,” he said on the podcast.

Ready to finish the season. But you know how things work in football, things change. Everything can happen.

“Things change quickly, for sure. We all know. At the moment I just push myself by training and working at Chelsea, because that’s where I am now.’

Despite his meager playing time at Chelsea, Pulisic is not without suitors as he has previously been linked with Manchester United, Newcastle, AC Milan and Juventus.

Regardless of where he ends up – or if a move even comes this winter – he used the World Cup as a reminder of his quality.

Pulisic finished the tournament with one goal and two assists, playing a hand in every US goal and found himself unlucky enough to hit the crossbar against England as well.

The USA was eventually outclassed 3-1 by the Netherlands in the last 16, but successfully navigated a tough group with Wales, England and Iran.

“For example, when I come back here with my teammates at Chelsea, they’re all talking about, ‘You actually have a good team. We didn’t know. You looked good, you looked good against England, you have a strong squad. .” And I said, “Yes.”

“People don’t understand, it’s just getting that experience and having that little bit of calm next time. And a lot of the core guys that will probably still be around [in 2026]is the best thing about it.

So I think that’s what I take away from it the most. Now that I feel like I have this experience, I feel even more comfortable on the field. I’ve stood and played on the highest podium.”
