Friends is the gift that keeps on giving, especially when fans discover mistakes and mistakes all these years later.

Eagle eyes Friends fans have discovered a blunder from Courtney Cox’s character Monica Geller in arguably one of the show’s best episodes – “The One With The Embryos.”

In the episode, Monica and Rachel, and Chandler and Joey, go head to head in a battle to find out which pair knows the other better. As the game progresses, the stakes increase until Monica’s apartment is the prize.

On a Friends Reddit thread, the fan noticed a mistake in the dialogue after the girls lost the apartment, and it seems we all missed it.

“Just after the boys win the trivia game and Rachel refuses to move, Monica says, ‘If we’d lost, we’d have gotten them off the birds, right?

‘It does not make any sense. They lost. She probably should have said ‘if they lost’ or ‘if we won’, right?’

Another fan added: “I had to immediately stop what I was doing and start watching. Yup, both the actual dialogue spoken by Monica and the subtitles say ‘if we had lost’. I can’t believe that the editors didn’t get it!”

The main cast – Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer – all reunited last year for a reunion show on HBO that was an absolute hit with fans.

However, according to Cox, it will be the last.

“I don’t feel like I have any closure on it… [but] we’re not going to have another reunion,” Cox told Faith Hill Variety‘s Actors on Actors series. “Can you imagine? We’ll be like, ‘We’re 80! Let’s go back in!'”

Friends streams on Netflix in the UK, where it also airs daily on Comedy Central. In the US, you can stream the show HBO max.
