Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is all about the new collection of Pokémon to catch, themed around the Spanish-inspired Paldea region. In traditional Pokémon fashion, the three starters Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly are built around their respective elemental types: Grass, Fire, and Water. However, if you venture beyond the opening area of Cabo Poco, you’ll soon be introduced to a number of new Pokémon to battle and catch on your travels, allowing you to quickly interact with all 18 species and fill your party of up to six creatures as you choose.
One of the new Pokémon introduced in this latest installment of the long-running video game series is called Pawmi, and it’s easy to miss it running through the grassy plains of the South Province if you don’t look too closely.
Pawmi and its first evolution, Pawmo, is an Electric-type “Mouse Pokémon” not unlike Pikachu. Unlike some of the other Pokémon you may encounter during the opening section of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, Pawmi can evolve into the second and third levels (Pawmo and Pawmot) relatively early in the story, making it a powerful contender if you are willing to go through the short and straightforward process of evolving your Pawmi into a Pawmo and eventually into a Pawmot.
Catching a Pawmi
Pawmi is generally not too hard to find in the southern parts of the map near Cabo Poco and Mesagoza. You’ll have to look closely though, because these critters really are as mouse-like in their figure as described in the Pokédex. They are extremely small, making them hard to spot if you’re not paying close attention, and they tend to hang out in grassy areas that are quite far from main roads.
Once you do battle with a Pawmi, you can throw Pokéballs until you successfully catch one. Congratulations on catching your first Pawmi!
Pawmi evolve into Pawmo
Once you’ve caught your first Pawmi you can easily evolve it into a Pawmo by leveling it up to level 18. This is pretty easy, just keep battling and catching Pokémon in the wild, use the Auto Battle system and approach Trainers to share in battles and completing Tera Raids to quickly earn lots of XP candies.
It’s a good idea to have Pawmi at the front of your party, even if you plan on using other Pokémon to complete your battles, as Pawmi still gets a boost for XP gain at the end of each battle.
Pawmo evolve into Pawmot
The third and final version of Pawmi and Pawmo is the highly usable Pawmot, which has the unique ability to revive fallen Pokémon in team battles with the Revival Blessing move, and is the only character in the game to use the powerful offensive attack. Double Shock can use. . Called the “Hands-On Pokémon”, Pawmot is described as being able to draw the same amount of electricity as an electric car battery. injury.
Evolving Pawmo into Pawmot is a bit trickier than just leveling it up. Instead, you must use the Let’s Go feature to summon Pawmo into the field while Pawmo is at the head of your party. Next, you need to run 1000 steps while Pawmo runs out of his ball next to you. After that, you’ll need to level up your Pawmo at least once, though this must be done during battle or through the use of XP candies.
There’s a catch here, which is that Pawmo’s steps toward evolution aren’t tracked if you dispatch him with the Auto Battle button (that’s the R button, or the right bumper if you’re so inclined!). You have to specifically summon it with Let’s Go, the ZR button or the right trigger. Also, make sure you don’t run too far in front of him or he’ll be automatically called back to his ball and you’ll have to send him back again. Other than that, you shouldn’t waste more than half an hour running around before Pawmo evolves into Pawmot.
Congratulations on having such a powerful Pokémon in your party so early! Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are pretty long RPGs, which means you might not be sure what to do next. Here are some tips for approaching the open world campaign, including Victory Road, Starfall Street, and Titan Abilities.
