Leicester are interested in ‘£39m man Azzedine Ounahi’ after helping Morocco become the first African side to reach the World Cup semi-finals…

Leicester are interested in a move from Moroccan World Cup hero Azzedine Ounahi, who impressed enough for the Atlas Lions to earn a reported £39.5 million.

The midfielder has played every game for his country in Qatar and has attracted the attention of numerous clubs, including the Foxes, prompting current Angers to raise their asking price for the 22-year-old.

He has also emerged as one of the World Cup breakout stars – even seeing Arsenal legend Ray Parlor beg his former side to make a transfer to the Moroccan – playing in a side that became the first African team to made the final four.

There is believed to be interest from the Premier League side in his services, although it is unclear whether it is strong enough to part with £39m for a player who is otherwise unproven outside of Qatar.

Leicester’s budget is believed to be tight as the club only signed one outfield last summer in the form of Belgian defender Wout Faes, making a deal for such a sum unlikely.

The player is reportedly keen to move away from the Ligue 1 fighters following his exploits on the world stage, and Angers is ready to listen to offers in January.

For the move to be successful, it is believed they are keen to see the player return to France to complete the remainder of the 2022–23 season.

Despite starring in what was a historic World Cup campaign, Ounahi has yet to score or assist in 24 appearances for club and country this season.

Another player the club is fond of is Atalanta’s Ivorian winger Jeremie Boga, who left Chelsea’s Under-23 squad in 2018 to move to Sassuolo.

Jeremie Boga has also emerged as a potential loan target for Leicester, although finances are tight at KP Stadium

Boga has struggled for playing time in Italy since joining Atalanta after an initial loan spell last season, and has played just 74 minutes so far this season, but the Foxes are keen to sign him on loan to bolster their own ranks.

However, Leicester could be fighting to keep much sought-after midfielder Youri Tielemans, who becomes a free transfer at the end of the season.

Tielemans has established himself as one of Leicester’s main stars, but the club has proven unable to commit him to an extended contract so far, with Arsenal reportedly keen on his services.
