The Liverpool players were pictured cheerfully in Dubai as their mid-season training camp continues, as six first-team members prepare for the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar.

Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Ibrahima Konate remain with their countries on World Cup duty, with the Netherlands, England, Brazil and France having reached the last eight.

Darwin Nunez is expected to join the rest of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad next week, following Uruguay’s exit from the group stage.

Klopp’s side will return to domestic action in the Carabao Cup, in a thrilling draw against Manchester City at the Etihad on December 22.

Preparations for the resumption of the season will intensify on Sunday when Liverpool face Italian champions AC Milan in the first of their two friendlies as part of the Dubai Super Cup.

Liverpool will also face Lyon on December 16.

The Ligue 1 side were beaten 3-0 by Premier League leaders Arsenal yesterday at the start of the event.
