However, a source has now exclusively told that Digital spy that hundreds of new episodes will be made when the show goes back into production next year.

An insider told us: “The plan is for Neighbors to maintain its format as a large-scale daily soap opera so that it will still be the show fans know and love.

“Plans are being made for two new seasons, each of which will contain 200 episodes. It’s an incredible result for fans, who thought they’d seen the last of the show when the finale aired in July.

“The logic for Freevee is that daily installments of episodes keep fans checking out the streaming service and engaging with other content available.”

The news means that Neighbors will reach the milestone of 9,000th episode, having ended in July with episode 8,903.

Seasons of 200 episodes would mean fewer episodes than when the show aired on Channel 5. It equates to enough to air 40 weeks a year, if the soap is broadcast in the established format of five episodes a week.

This could mean the show is taking breaks with a mid-season finale and season finale, though details on how the episodes will be released won’t be officially announced until later.

Freevee is already executing a strategy of daily delivery of episodes with Judge Judy’s new show Judy Justice – another original commission, currently in its second season.
