CP(alace) Company, anyone? That’s right, London’s leading streetwear label now turned into a collaborative juggernaut, Palace has partnered with Italian outerwear pioneer CP Company on an extensive capsule collection, and it’s ready to refresh your winter look with a large number of updated classics.
Founded by Massimo Osti in 1971 and today run by Lorenzo Osti, the CP Company President, the label has made a name for itself with hybrid styles that simultaneously explore the outdoors, streetwear and high-fashion worlds. Vintage military undertones are combined with utilitarian references and fabric research with a wealth of sportswear to create outerwear that will last a lifetime, both physically and figuratively as it is forever in fashion.
Now the brand’s philosophy has been put to the test thanks to Palace’s playful vision, which presents a collaboration that perfectly encapsulates the identities of both brands. Pieces from the Italian imprint’s archive meet sweaters and sweatpants synonymous with Palace, while research and application of fabric manipulation and treatments abound.
Technical garment-dyed fabrics such as Nylon B, Flatt Nylon and Microreps Diamond Peach welcome a contemporary touch, while traditional lambswool has been used for a sweater fit for the winter season. Similarly, a Montgomery duffle coat from the archives inspires Palace’s long duffle coat, a piece treated with a Tri-Ferg wearing vintage stripe pattern and a fabric coating that makes the outerwear a performance world.
Of course, it couldn’t be a CP Company collaboration without a take on its iconic Ba-Tic field jacket with goggle hood and layered canvas, arriving here in faded purple and black colourways. This complements the cap and balaclava, while a full uniform is provided thanks to hiking boots, pants that match the Ba-Tic, hoodies that wear goggles, Fairisle-esque sweaters, bomber jackets, classic T-shirts with logos, and a blanket .
On the collaboration, Lorenzo Osti said: “I have been in love with Palace since I discovered the brand years ago: I love their attitude, irreverent but humble, ironic but with a lot to say. And when I met Gareth and Lev, I just got confirmation that great brands come from great people. It was easy and fun to work with them, but above all a great honor.”
Lev Tanju from Palace added: “Working with CP Company is a big deal for me personally. I have been a lifelong fan of what Lorenzo and his family have done for not only my wardrobe, but menswear and sportswear in general, they are the innovators who changed everything. The Osti family basically invented everything I like to wear, except flip flops. I also appreciate Paul Harvey, he also designed some of my favorite outerwear ever!”
The collection will be released on December 16 on Palace’s website and in its flagship stores around the world, as well as on CP Company’s website. Naturally, this is at the usual time of 11am GMT/EDT/CST/JST.
