The former Blues and Kangaroos center said he chose to stay away from reunion celebrations to avoid causing trouble with former CEO Peter Doust and a mysterious team member.

Former NRL player Scott Sattler, who famously played for the Penrith Panthers from 1993 to 2003, says he is disappointed with Cooper’s comments and has encouraged him to move on from the past.

“Matty Cooper has been very critical of his former club,” Sattler said on SEN radio on Tuesday.

“(He’s) played 250 games for the club, (he’s) one of the big players, mind you.

“To go on Twitter and explain to the fans why he didn’t go to their 10 year reunion… it’s mind boggling why he tried to draw attention to him like that.

“I’m a little disappointed, to be honest. The reasons (because Cooper wasn’t there)… he said there will be a former CEO and there will be a player who wasn’t even in the game (2010 Grand Final).

“If there is a player who is part of the first-class squad, who was part of a squad that won the league in 2010, for example, even if they play a second or a minute of that year, they should be invited to play. reunions.’

Cooper made 243 appearances for the Red V club between 2001 and 2013 and his relationship with the Dragons faltered after former CEO Peter Doust offered Cooper a job with the club, which never happened.

“We have a meeting every year, the 2003 (Panthers) side, we invite every player that played a second that year and so they should be[invited],” said Sattler.

“So, for Matty Cooper, I would say, we’ve all been there when we’re retiring or approaching the end of our careers where we might have been promised something and it hasn’t materialized.

“You just have to get over it and we have to stop trying to destabilize a club you’ve served so proudly, try to figure out how to get back to success.

“Going on Twitter and blackening the club again doesn’t seem like the right thing to do,” Sattler said.

Cooper has made it clear that he will reveal all details about the feud in 2023 through a TV interview.
