Simon Cowell teased the possibility of a new reality show with the previous one The X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan.

Appears on The one performance last night (Dec. 8) with the singer-songwriter, Cowell was asked by host Alex Jones if there was a “new vehicle to refuel that pop engine,” with the pair hinting that a new show could be in the works.

“There are things, if it ever came back, that Simon and I would like to make it a better show for the contestants and for their longevity,” Spraggan said.

“The importance is finding new talent that really needs a voice and a platform. Simon has that and I have the experience of being a contestant; I think we can create something really special,” she continued.

When Jones and co-host Ronan Keating remarked that “something was going on”, Cowell hinted that “maybe a conversation with Spraggan had taken place” and that there might be “a plan” to work together.

The X Factor ran for fifteen series’ from 2004 before being canceled in 2018 with ITV broadcasting two spin-offs, The X Factor: Celebrity and The X factor: the band a year later.

The network revealed in 2021 that there were no plans to revive the show, with Cowell originally set to judge Walk the linebut he was replaced by Take That singer Gary Barlow.

Cowell, who also served as a judge on Britain has talentrecently spoke about the changes he would make The X Factor should it eventually return, saying he would take it “back to basics” and increase his role as a mentor.

“The one thing I’ve promised myself for the future is that I want to be more of a mentor,” he said. “The only good thing [about] getting older is having a lot of experience and it’s not always about the things you’ve done well – it’s also about the things you haven’t done.”
