The dates of the Christmas school holidays in England
Most schools in England will close for the holidays on Friday 16 December.
They will then return in the first full week of January, most likely on Tuesday 3 as Monday 2 is the New Year’s holiday.

The dates of the Christmas school holidays in Scotland
Scottish schools close slightly later for Christmas than those in England, closing at 2.30pm for Christmas Thursday December 22.
They go back on Wednesday 4th January as Tuesday is a special Scottish holiday.
Dates vary by local council so you should check the Scottish Government website in advance.
Christmas holiday dates in Wales
Half-year dates in Wales often resemble England. Most schools therefore close on Friday 16 December.
On Tuesday 3 January, the majority of the students will go back to school.

Christmas holiday dates in Northern Ireland
All schools in Northern Ireland will close for Christmas on Friday 23 December.
The first day of the school year will start early in the new year on Tuesday, January 3.
