Yes Morant is ejected after the Grizzlies’ loss to Oklahoma City after talking to a fan on the field in bizarre scenes… before FaceTimed his dad to talk to the woman again later in the game

Memphis star Ja Morant was ejected just before halftime as an understaffed Oklahoma City Thunder team ended Memphis’ winning streak at seven with a 115-109 win on Saturday night.

Morant was sent off with 43 seconds left in the half when he was called for his second technical foul after apparently making disparaging remarks to Memphis fans at court.

While summoned from the court, Morant gave the fan, now identified as Lisa, a thumbs up and a heart signal before saying ‘you’re good, I got you’.

He didn’t specifically say what he said to the fan, but did confirm the conversation and said he didn’t speak to the official for either technical.

“I got my first tech because I said I got punched in the face. I didn’t call him names,’ Morant said.

Another situation where he’s in my call and I get another tech for talking to a fan. I feel like when these fans came here, went online to buy these tickets, they didn’t say Ray [Acosta] name to come and see.’ Acosta, one of the officials.

Hilariously, before the game ended, Morant FaceTimed his dad walking over to Lisa so Morant could verbalize that he wasn’t mad at her, saying “it’s all good,” according to Thunder beat writer Joe Mussatto.

The conversation between Lisa and Morant was made clear by Mussatto. Lisa is reported to have said, “I just said to Ja, ‘let’s go’,” to which he replied “can’t do much because (the umpires) missed a call.”

Morant retweeted both of Mussatto’s reports of the circus on Saturday night.

The Grizzlies star remained active on his phone, causing NBA Twitter to burst into laughter by tweeting a meme in response to quotes from NBA official John Goble about why he was ejected.

Memphis beat writer Drew Hill tweeted Goble’s response, in which he denied that Morant had been removed for public comment.

Instead, he said Morant received his second technical warning “for making a comment questioning the integrity of the officials.”

Morant scored just six points on 3-of-10 shooting. The All-Star guard got his first technical call after committing a foul to stop play and complain of a no-call on a drive to the basket.

The Thunder, which starred unstarred Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey, ended a five-game losing streak. Lu Dort scored 24 points and Isiah Joe had a season-high 23 points and hit five 3-pointers.
